About
Born and bred in the Bay of Plenty, I spent a number of years living and teaching overseas. Returning to NZ in the early 90s, I became the first educator for the Western BOP Life Education Trust and eventually started a family. Tauranga has been our home now for nearly 30 years.
I had long been drawn to the idea of becoming a counsellor and in 2006 I began my training with ‘The Institute of Psychosynthesis NZ’.
I have worked in private practice as a counsellor and now psychotherapist for over 15 years. During that time I have learnt what brings a person to therapy can vary hugely, however it seems what we all have in common is the desire to grow and evolve towards becoming the best version of ourselves we can. To walk beside another human being on this journey, in the role of therapist, continues to be a true privilege.
Modalities & Approach
A key assumption of Psychosynthesis is that every human being has an immense potential for personal growth and crucial to this growth is self-awareness.
Whether the work is short or long term, my intention with every client is to provide them a place to feel safe, seen and heard and to guide them in getting to know themselves more fully. Together, we explore whatever it is that brings them to therapy. Ultimately I want to support my clients in developing a more positive sense of self and to feel more in charge and confident in their capacity to make life affirming choices.
Over the years I have continued my professional development in the areas of attachment therapy, sensorimotor psychotherapy, mindfulness and various forms of trauma focused therapy.
Areas of expertise
- Diploma of Psychosynthesis Counselling (NZQA recognised Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree)
