About
My name is Leith Thompson. I'm married with 4 grown children and at the moment have ten grand-children. My wife Donna and I have lived in Tauranga for thirty years. We moved here from the Hutt Valley when our children were still very young.
I've been involved in the caring for people profession for fifteen years, but back in my younger days I drove forklifts and tried my hand as a baker. I enjoy playing table tennis and playing pool. My wife and I make the most of our leisure time by
enjoying good movies, great coffee and traveling. We recently walked 120km across Scotland.
Donna and I find that the one thing we enjoy most is our family. There's always something going on...life is never dull, and we're never far behind them, participating in their lives and supporting them from the side line.
Being grandparents has been a wonderful experience for us. At least once a year the whole family will go camping together, and enjoy the sun and spending time together. My family is my sanctuary and my support, I have learned that no-one can
go through life entirely alone and healthy relationship can make the difficulties of life seem a little easier to cope with.
Experience
I have enjoyed working with people of all ages from five years old to eighty five. I try to work with empathy, non judgment and to just be myself. I enjoy making sense of problems through Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and exploring problems
though Narrative therapy. I try to always be working from a strength base perspective...looking to see what people are already doing well.
