Hi, I’m Peter and am married to Shiree. We have 2 adult sons Ben and Steve and a lovely daughter-in-law Sue. Having grown up in a large family (7 siblings) I have long appreciated the importance of our connections. While I spent 23 years as a dairy farmer I have always had a passion for relationships – whether it be parent/child, the couple relationship, extended whanau, with friends or colleagues, the relationship we have with ourselves, or how we choose to relate to the spiritual. It is these connections, I believe, that give our lives meaning and value.

While I come from an Attachment, Narrative, CBT and Systemic perspective, my pragmatic farming and Dutch ancestry leads me to follow what best fits for the person or people I am having the privilege to journey with. I believe that when people are offered support, when that support fits for them, and when hope is regained, people will find the resources they need to work through almost any issue they are confronted with.

As well as supervising other counsellors and professionals some of the areas I am experienced in working with include:
  • Grief and Loss
  • Trauma and Abuse
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Self Esteem and Identity Issues
  • Stress and Workplace Issues
  • Parenting and Family Relationships
  • Couple Relationships
  • Communication and Conflict Resolution
  • Intimacy and Sexual Relationships
  • Trust Issues including infidelity
  • Sexual Issues including Pornography Addiction
  • Adolescents and Adults who have engaged in Sexually Harmful Behaviour
