Personal
Hi, my name is Alison (everyone calls me Ali) I am 51 years of age, I am married to Dave. We have been married for thirty-two years. We have three adult children who are all married and four beautiful grandchildren that we love dearly. My childhood was in a large family that went through separation, trauma and abuse. I can understand that family life is not always easy as I have experienced both healthy and unhealthy relationships.

Up until the commencement of my counselling career I worked primarily with children as an early childhood teacher, primary teacher's assistance, 'Banardos' child care and mother of three. Since then my focus has grown more towards family's health and wellness helping individuals and families to find more balance and wholeness in life.

I am an experienced counsellor specialising in working with children, young people and families. I work with all ages and a variety of issues including:
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationships and family struggles
  • Communication & Confidence
  • Stress, burnout & resilience
  • Anxiety, depression, emotional pain and other mental health difficulties
  • Feelings of anxiety and depression, anger and suicidal thoughts or feelings
  • Physical, emotional and sexual abuse

Through my own experiences and having helped many people explore their stories and make sense of struggles in their lives, through learning skills and strategies that can enable people and families to move forward. Models of therapy I employ include; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Play Therapy. My intuitive understanding of people's needs and emotions allows me to work well in a caring and relaxed manner while maintaining a safe working environment.

My private practice is found just five minutes from Greerton in Pyes Pa and is in a lovely therapeutic country setting that enables opportunities for therapy outside of a closed in room environment. This can allow for creativity or just simply a garden seat to connect, reflect and process the struggles being experienced in life and family.
