Eligibility

Child
To apply for funded counselling through BOP Therapy Foundation first check to see if you can answer 'yes' to the following questions:
 
  • Do you reside in the Tauranga area, including Te Puke, Maketu, Katikati and Waihi Beach (not Waihi)?
 
 
  • Are you able to show that you are unable to pay for professional counselling due to any of the following reasons ie. beneficiary, single income, low income. indebtedness, community services card, eligibility for Working for Families Tax Credit subsidy or other specific reasons?

If you have not been able to answer 'yes' to all three questions please click here for visit our Directory of Support for other assistance and support available in our community.

If you have answered 'yes' to all three questions listed above it appears that you have met the criteria for funded counselling. There are now two types of funded counselling available - fully funded and partially funded.

Fully Funded Counselling


Fully funded sessions are available for Children & Families and Young People if you can answer yes to one or more of the following questions :

1. Previous family involvement with CYF / MCVOT
2. Family mostly supported by benefits
3. Parent with previous or current prison or community service sentence
4. Mother with no formal qualifications ie no NCEA Level 3 or University Entrance qualification or above

CHILDREN & FAMILIES - Funded counselling where issues are adversely impacting on a child/children under the age of 17.

YOUNG PEOPLE - Young people aged 17 - 24 from families who meet one of the 4 criteria listed above.

If you are not eligible for fully funded counselling you may be eligible for partially funded counselling sessions. 

Partially Funded Counselling
BOP Therapy Foundation will assist in meeting the cost of the counselling but you will need to financially contribute to the counselling. Please discuss your level of contribution directly with the counsellor. Funding is currently available in the following areas:
 
CHILDREN & FAMILIES - Funded counselling where issues are adversely impacting on a child/children under the age of 17.

YOUNG PEOPLE - Young people aged 17 - 24 who need additional support

INDIVIDUALS & COUPLES - individuals and couples of any age who meet the standard criteria for counselling through BOP Therapy Foundation.

To apply for funded counselling just follow these 3 easy steps:
  1. Contact one of our counsellors by phone or email to discuss your situation. Click here to view counsellors individual profiles or email us for a referral to a particular counsellor.
  2. If you meet the criteria ,and funding is available, the counsellor will complete and submit an application to BOP Therapy Foundation on your behalf.
  3. BOP Therapy Foundation will review your application and approve between 8 - 13 funded counselling sessions if funds are available or defer the application until funding is available.
