Counsellors

All the counsellors the foundation uses belong to organisations such as NZ Psychological Society, NZ Association of Counsellors, the NZ Association of Psychotherapists and the NZ Association of Occupational Therapists. All of these organisations have written codes of ethics, that must be followed.

To be called a psychotherapist, psychologist or occupational therapist the counsellor must be registered by a government body controlling those disciplines.The NZ AC is currently working towards registration of the profession "counsellor". Once this happens those who now call themselves counsellors will also have to have registration.
